The San Francisco duo of Broker/Dealer is a breath of fresh air in this new world of abstraction in electronic music. Initial Public Offering is in a way a step back into the roots of machine music. Taking heavy influence from Germany, the initial innovators (Kraftwerk, Cluster) and the more modern experimentations of labels like Chain Reaction and Kompakt. Also there is a slight influence of dub. Along with their ability to stay true to their influences they still have the capability to create something new. Strong enough to drop in the club, yet mellow enough to fall asleep to.
