So I've decided to come out of the woodwork to spread this album about and do a short little write up on it. For anyone not in the know, Ceremony has mainly been doing hyper-aggressive hardcore the last few years, and thus have developed a fan base around that. So far almost everyone I know who has said they like them (which isn't many, I've given them the moniker "the most hated band in hardcore") are now singing a different tune with this album. However, anyone who's listened to Rohnert Park and the Covers album they released last year should know they'd head in this direction. This is their first release on Matador, and they're definitely subverting the aggression (something which is a welcome change of pace). From the time I've spent talking with Ross (I've followed them for short spurts on the road twice now), they take the attitude with their band that others in the past such as No Trend and Flipper must have, shirking the "labels" and just doing whatever the fuck they want to do, and people may hate them for it (much like people hated No Trend and Flipper at the time). Think early Wire meets Mission of Burma meets a little Flux of Pink Indians peppered with a little Warsaw to flavor. Enjoy.

Then buy it as well.
