I just recently have been on this big soul/R&B kick. I think it was the discovery of Mayer Hawthorne. As much as I liked his latest album, it left me wanting more. I suppose as Xavier said to me, he's a white soul singer. At the risk of sounding bold, I was left looking for something a bit more authentic. A bit more... black. Then I stumbled across this gem, and I really am pleased about it. For a recent release, this is one of the most authentic soul records I have heard in awhile. Put out on Truth & Soul Records, My World is a testament to a different time. Still undeniably fresh, this one is sure to please.
Edit: I have been made aware that this album was posted awhile on this blog, but I'm going to keep this up as a repost. Enjoy.
