Jackie-O Motherfucker- Flags of the Sacred Harp

Jackie-O Motherfucker is, in my opinion at least, one of the strangest post-rock bands to ever exist. Mainly because they aren't really post-rock. They're a strange cluster fuck of so many different styles, ideas, and methods that surprisingly work together very well. I've read some people describing them as a "'schizophrenic” mix of psychedelic guitar, country slide guitar and free-jazz improvisation, “as if Jimi Hendrix played Hank Williams backed by the Swell Maps."' Sounds interesting, right? Well, Wikipedia adds this: "Jackie-O Motherfucker's music draws from a variety of subgenres including various folk musics of the world (American folk and blues, Native American song, Traditional English folk ballads, etc), drone, free jazz, and space-rock, and is heavily improvisational in its nature. Because they are a collective, rather than a consistent band or group, the sound of their music can change from performance to performance."

So basically they're one of the least genre specific 'post-rock' bands out there. I heard this band a few years ago, and due to my occasionally lapsing memory I forgot about them until the other day. Regardless, here's their record Flags of the Sacred Harp so that anyone who cares can enjoy it as I surely will be doing for a while.
