One of the strongest, most accessible albums from one of the most creative, rudimentary sound drummers of his time. Blakey's volume is spot on in this recording. His patterns compliment the compositions of Bobby Timmons (Piano) and Benny Golson (Saxophone) but never overpower them. The smooth flowing solos allow Blakey showoff his talent and technicality as a drummer without cutting the rest of the band out completely. Hard-Bop at its best, Solid & Tight.
